**** Free ESTIMATES ARE TOTAL BS.
I’m not sure about the rest of this company but the estimator (DYLAN) was just AWFUL! Apparently if you live within 15 miles of the shop your estimate is free… However we live 22 miles from the shop… So this estimator (DYLAN) stated he would need $80 in advance before providing an estimate, as according to him we were 45 minutes from his shop and he would need fuel money. After seeing his truck I hardly think $80 was required for the extra 7 miles more he had to travel past the 15 free miles!!!
THEN he JUST showed up even though I had requested to reschedule the appointment several days earlier, as we had a medical issue come up. He stated it would only take a few minutes and basically ignored my request to reschedule. I asked for several different options to keep the cost down after his max of 20 minutes that he took looking at things and then ball parking the price at about $10,000. Even though I would be providing most of the material. The more I said I could provide the same parts he could the higher the price went. But he had to suggest he use what already had on hand, NOT what I asked for. NO he wanted to use Blue plastic piping in a large area that would be seen by all after the install. This was material that he had left over from another job that was going to be $23 for each 10 foot section???
Home Depot sells the same thing at $14 for a 25 foot roll.
DYLAN… What a rip off! Then after giving him $80 cash he said he would give me an estimate but only through the mail. After pointing out I just gave him $80 cash for what amounted to 20 minutes of walking around my small home. He points out he had almost been there an hour. YEAH… 20 minutes of walking around raising the cost of the estimate after each conversation and 35 minutes of complaining about his Electrical Business, His cost for tools and not having a Secretary and all his problems. I’m a retired Mechanic from a dealership. Buying tools is just part of the job not something you complain to your customers about especially when you’re not using those tools on that job… My father was an Electrical Engineer for Honeywell for 45 years. I learned a lot from him. Myself, I have years of training with repairs Mechanical and Electrical and I have 6 years of College that taught me how things work. This guy (DYLAN) was way over selling this job! That’s my experience and my fathers experience talking. But due to arthritis, I am unable to do this kind of work anymore.
Sure we all have problems but I had a fire that was caused by faulty wiring, not to mention NO home owners insurance. I’m currently running 3 extension cords from a detached garage to run half of my home.
DYLAN had NO Companion… NO Concern… and NO Urgency for my situation. This guy was only out for cash he NEVER sent me an estimate and it’s been about a month. If you want to use this company don’t put your trust in DYLAN!
UPDATE… After calling the original owner of the electrical shop who still works there and after telling him some of my concerns. I told him I had yet to receive a estimate. He said he would talk to the new owner, who was his grandson. After some time I finally got a response… He told me that they wouldn’t be able to do the job due to the amount of work they already had..?? What a load of BS. He expected me to believe they would NEVER have time for my needed repairs… IS THAT HOW VAN’S WORKS??? CHARGING ME $80 FOR A VISIT TO PROVIDE AN ESTIMATE.
WHEN THEY KNOW THEY CAN’T DO THE WORK.
NOT TO MENTION NEVER PROVIDING AN ESTIMATE.
It was like a complete and total scam. It appears that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree as senior and grandson Jr only interest was in getting my cash and doing nothing and I mean nothing for it. These guys may have a work ethic but I couldn’t find it!!!
ONE MORE THING… I just found out how much VAN’S charges to install or upgrade a main breaker panel $1200 to $3000.
The industry standard is $500 to $1000…
All this company wants is your cash or your home owner insurance check.
If you don’t care about being ripped off or paying too much for an electrical service, by all means use them.
On behalf of all the customers who didn’t leave a review because they were just sick of this company’s tactics and BS, and believe me they are a lot of them. (Seniors are their favorite targets)
AN for the few brave people who left a real review of 1 star…
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVER !!!
